It lies on the edge of the eastern foothills of the Rhinogs overlooking the River Cothi, and is at the foot of the Malvern Hills. The community consists of the villages of Llandegla, Lisvane and Penrhyn. History and amenities Famous for its production of Welsh wool, its first textile mill was built in 1803 and established by Edward Davies, whose coat of arms can still be seen on a lamp post in the village. During the 19th century, Llandegla became a popular spa resort, and has recently seen a resurgence of interest in tourism and the environment. The station at Llandegla is on the North Wales Coast line. Llandegla has three pubs: The Angel Hotel, The Crown and the Glamorgan Arms (a Coed y Castell Inn). The Llandegla Community Centre was built in 2003 and the new library in 2005. Education There are two primary schools, Ysgol Bro Tycenydd and Ysgol Anghyl-felin, as well as Ysgol Bryn-yr-chan.
